March 23, Jungheinrich Maintains Course for Growth in 2016

Jungheinrich Maintains Course for Growth in 2016

  • Fiscal 2015 closes with double-digit growth in incoming orders, net sales, EBIT and EBT
  • Incoming orders up 12 per cent in value (469 million euros) and 6 per cent in units (16.8 thousand trucks
  • Net sales up 10 per cent to 432 million euros as of the end of February
  • Forecast for 2016 net sales between 2.9 and 3.0 billion euros

Hamburg—The Jungheinrich Group stayed its course for growth, getting off to a very good start in 2016. Having recorded all-time highs in the 2015 financial year, all of the key performance indicators rose significantly in the first two months of the current year. The Board of Management expects a strong fiscal 2016.

Says Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG, "Our performance in 2015 was very good, as evidenced by the double-digit growth rates posted by incoming orders, net sales, EBIT and EBT, the gains in market share in both Europe and worldwide, and the important strategic projects. Based on the positive development in the first two months of the current year and our assessment of the market, we expect incoming orders to total between 3.0 and 3.1 billion euros and consolidated net sales to range from 2.9 to 3.0 billion euros in 2016. Our assessment is that EBIT will amount to between 220 and 230 million euros in the financial year underway."

January to February 2016 and Assessment of the Market in 2016

Jungheinrich anticipates that the world material handling equipment market will grow slightly in terms of volume in 2016. Market volume in Western and Eastern Europe is currently expected to display positive development. Opportunities may arise in Russia where initial signs of a recovery are becoming apparent. Jungheinrich expects the Asian markets to expand marginally, driven by the warehousing equipment and battery-powered counterbalanced truck segments. It remains to be seen whether the shrinking market for IC engine-powered counterbalanced trucks will recover in Asia. Jungheinrich anticipates that the North American market will record stable development, although a slight contraction cannot be ruled out, in view of the surprising cool-down in the first two months of the year.

At 167 thousand forklift trucks, the global material handling equipment market was slightly bigger at the end of February 2016 than by the same point in time last year (164 thousand trucks). During the same period, market volume in Europe, Jungheinrich’s main sales market, rose by 14 per cent to 65 thousand forklifts (prior year: 57 thousand trucks).

Jungheinrich displayed very positive development in this environment, maintaining its course for growth. In the first two months of the new fiscal year, the value of incoming orders totaled 469 million euros and was thus 12 per cent higher than the 418 million euros recorded a year earlier. Incoming orders in terms of units climbed by 6 per cent in the first two months to 16.8 thousand forklifts (prior year: 15.8 thousand trucks). Amounting to 530 million euros, orders on hand in new truck business as of the end of February 2016 exceeded the 477 million euros achieved by December 31, 2015 by 11 per cent. In the first two months of 2016, the Jungheinrich Group’s net sales totaled 432 million euros (prior year: 391 million euros), surpassing the year-earlier figure by 10 per cent. During the same period, production volume advanced by 10 per cent to 15.1 thousand forklifts (prior year: 13.7 thousand trucks).

March 03, Jungheinrich’s Successful 2016: Ambitious Full-Year Forecast Exceeded

Jungheinrich further expands global sales and service network

  • Double-digit growth in incoming orders, net sales, EBIT and EBT
  • Value of incoming orders up 11 per cent to 2.82 billion euros
  • Market share increased worldwide and in core market Europe
  • Production figures exceed 90,000 units for the first time
  • EBIT rises 10 per cent to 213 million euros
  • Dividend proposed for preferred shares 14 per cent higher

The Jungheinrich Group brought fiscal 2015 to a very successful end, posting strong growth in all key performance indicators. New record highs were achieved for incoming orders, production, net sales and all earnings figures.

Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG,“Fiscal 2015 was another very successful year for Jungheinrich. We bested our ambitious forecast for our key financials incoming orders, net sales, EBIT and EBT and increased our market share in our main market Europe and worldwide. Furthermore in 2015, consolidated earnings rose to 138 million euros. Jungheinrich has constantly achieved positive results for its shareholders in recent years. The good level of incoming orders at the end of last year has been maintained in 2016 and gives us reason to be optimistic regarding the first half of the year.“

In 2015, incoming orders in terms of units amounted to 97.1 thousand forklift trucks – up 13 per cent on the comparable figure for the preceding year (85.6 thousand trucks). This momentum clearly exceeds that of the world market, which was flat, with a total of 1.1 million units (prior year: 1.09 million units) and is stronger than the positive development displayed by Europe, Jungheinrich’s core market, which posted 8 per cent growth, expanding to 373 thousand units (prior year: 345 thousand units). In sum, this performance enabled Jungheinrich to increase its share of the European and global markets.

Jungheinrich further expands global sales and service network

  • Sales companies established in Chile, Romania and South Africa
  • Jungheinrich now has a presence through proprietary direct sales in 36 countries worldwide
  • Resolute implementation of the international growth strategy continued successfully

Hamburg/Johannesburg/Ploiesti/Santiago de Chile
Following the acquisition of the dealership in Malaysia and the majority stake in NTP Forklifts in Australia in 2015, Jungheinrich is resolutely forging ahead with the expansion of its direct sales organization and, in turn, the implementation of its international growth strategy.

On its core market, Europe, Jungheinrich acquired the Jungheinrich operations of the dealership Wylze-Logistik in Romania in January 2016 en route to founding a sales company. However, Jungheinrich was particularly active outside Europe. The establishment of Jungheinrich South Africa occurred as early as 2015. The newly established sales company in Chile, South America's third-largest material handling equipment market, is scheduled to take up operations in April 2016. Personnel and assets of the dealerships BME Group (South Africa) and Spitec Renta Lift (Chile) were or will be taken over during the course of the companies' foundation.

The positive developments in all three countries established the prerequisites for becoming active with proprietary direct sales operations, thereby strengthening Jungheinrich's local presence substantially. The Hamburg-based family-owned company is thusresolutely continuing to implement its international growth strategy.

Dr. Lars Brzoska, member of the Board of Management in charge of sales:
“Now Jungheinrich is represented through its own sales companies in 36 countries the world over, giving us a really strong presence. In line with the Group's strategy, we are resolutely expanding our global network, enabling us to tap and exhaust market potential more comprehensively.“

Jungheinrich Presents New, Innovative Order Picker Models

Trucks tailored to the application / 10 percent higher performance at 14 percent lower energy consumption / Easy order picking even at second racking level / Integrated Day LED driving light.

Following the successful market launch of its horizontal order picker ECE 225 at LogiMAT 2015, Jungheinrich is unveiling further models to be launched successively over the coming months, starting with the ECE 225 HP (hydraulic lifting platform) and the ECE 225 HP-LJ (hydraulic lifting platform with control unit) variations.

All variations are based on the ECE 225 model, which was recently newly developed as a platform concept with completely overhauled drive and control technology. The models feature substantially enhanced acceleration and driving performance, resulting in up to 10 percent higher turnover compared with the previous series. €œInitial measurements in the field revealed that energy consumption has simultaneously gone down by as much as 14 percent,€ explains Ullrich Mau-Hansen, Product Manager for Order Pickers at Jungheinrich.

The standard version of the truck also has a patented new, cushioned stand-on platform which can be individually set to the driver€™s weight, thus contributing to a significant reduction in human vibrations. Generous space, even for tall drivers, along with a variety of individually adjustable stowing options add up to features €œthat not only speak for the important role played by ergonomics right at the new vehicle development stage at Jungheinrich; they rather embody the state of the art in intralogistics!€ continues Mau-Hansen.

The main feature of the new trucks however consists of their optimal adjustability to customer-specific application requirements. €œIn introducing the first new version of our ECE series we are setting standards once again in this vehicle class,€ reports Mau-Hansen. €œUsers in this vehicle segment have widely varying logistics concepts, with consequently very high expectations in terms of performance, energy efficiency, ruggedness and ergonomics. These new models provide the market with vehicles that are even more tailored to their specific needs,€ he concludes.

New Models: Comfortable Order Picking Even at Second Racking Level
The new horizontal order picker models consist of the ECE 225 HP (hydraulic lifting platform) and the ECE 225 HP-LJ (hydraulic lifting platform with control unit). These order pickers can transport payloads of up to 2,500 kilograms. Both trucks are fitted with a stand-on platform and are especially designed for frequent order picking at the second racking level. Whereas the ECE 225 HP lifts just the hydraulic lifting stand-on platform to the second racking level €“ the operator simply activates a foot button on the platform, leaving his hands free for order picking €“ the ECE 225 HP-LJ allows him to raise both the stand-on platform and the control unit to the second racking level. €œThis makes it possible for the operator to drive the vehicle even when the platform is raised,€ states Mau-Hansen.

A new feature of both model versions consists of an optional integrated Day LED driving light which, according to Mau-Hansen, €œincreases the passive safety factor considerably, and is particularly useful for dimly lit parts of the warehouse.€ Further available options for the new model versions include assistance systems like Curve Control, which automatically reduces the speed when cornering dependent on the payload, as well as three different driving programmes to guarantee the ideal vehicle adjustment to various different application profiles. All vehicle versions can furthermore be equipped with a series of optional packages, for example Drive & Eco Plus, providing for enhanced performance at the same high level of energy efficiency.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world€™s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, logistics systems, services and advice. The Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG is doing justice to this unusually positive development and proposes to the Supervisory Board that a draft resolution for a dividend increase of 0.18 euros to 0.98 euros per common share and to 1.04 euros per preferred share be submitted to the Annual General Meeting on May 19, 2015 for the passage of said resolution. This represents a 21 per cent increase in the dividend per preferred share.

The company will provide more detailed information on its business performance in 2014 at the annual press conference on March 25, 2015. Jungheinrich ranks among the world€™s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. January 28, Jungheinrich: Central Spare Parts Warehouse a Success

Jungheinrich: Central Spare Parts Warehouse a Success

New level in spare parts logistics achieved / Availability up to over 98 percent / More than 4,000 service engineers worldwide.

Jungheinrich clients are reaping the benefits of a highly efficient, in-night delivery service for original spare parts. In September 2013 the Hamburg-based enterprise transferred its central spare parts depot and spare parts management from the previous location at Norderstedt to a newly built spare parts centre at Kaltenkirchen. "This move took Jungheinrich's spare parts logistics to a whole new level," remarked Dirk Schulz, Head of After-sales Services at the Jungheinrich Group. "This has made us the trendsetter for our sector of industry," he added.

The project was planned and implemented by the Jungheinrich logistics systems division. In addition the project was actively supported by the Automatic Systems and Spare Parts Logistics Systems departments as well as the Jungheinrich Sales Centre North. The Warehouse Management System (WMS) and control technology were likewise in-house contributions. Based on its high level of automation, productivity at the Kaltenkirchen spare parts centre was already up 60 percent just a year after going into operation. "Our central spare parts centre is already a major success story and a wise investment in the future," continued Schulz.

By building the spare parts centre at Kaltenkirchen Jungheinrich has laid the groundwork for an even better fulfilment of future market requirements. This includes 24-hour delivery readiness 365 days of the year. According to Schulz: "Our new spare parts centre will guarantee an even faster and more efficient supply of spare parts worldwide."

Jungheinrich will also be exhibiting in the €œSoftware Hall€ (Hall 7, booth 7D/221), with its own booth. On display space of nearly 100 square metres the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist will showcase its expertise in software and IT hardware for warehouse applications €“ including the in-house development Jungheinrich Warehouse Management System (WMS) and wireless data communications components. Erected on property of some 65,000 square metres, the warehouse measures some 22,000 square metres of floor space and includes a high rack storage area which is 31 metres high. The facility can store over 65,000 warehouse articles in a total of 110,000 storage slots. At a rate of up to 1,000 positions per hour, the spare parts centre can deliver spare parts to many different time zones (the Americas, Central Europe and Asia). As Schulz remarks: "This has helped us clinch our competitive advantage in the spare parts business, and we have already succeeded in increasing the availability of original spare parts for our globally active clients to a rate of over 98 percent."

November 6, Strong Third Quarter for Jungheinrich

Strong Third Quarter for Jungheinrich

Net Sales and EBIT Post Double-Digit Growth/Disproportionately Strong Growth of New Truck Business/Forecast for 2014 Confirmed
Hamburg€”The Jungheinrich Group's positive trend continued in the third quarter of 2014. Net sales rose by 10 per cent from July to September 2014, while the value of incoming orders increased by 9 per cent. In the third quarter of 2014, EBIT was 12 per cent up year on year. Unit production figures rose by 12 per cent during the same period of time. The 22 per cent increase in orders on hand since the end of December 2013 is proof of the company's good order books. Based on these figures, the Board of Management confirmed and concretized its forecast for the current fiscal year.

Irrespective of the first signs of uncertainty regarding the development of the world economy, the global material handling equipment market grew by 9 per cent to 818.6 thousand forklift trucks in the first nine months of the year (prior year: 752.0 thousand trucks). Europe, Jungheinrich's main sales market, posted an increase of 11 per cent. Demand rose by 12 per cent in Western Europe, with market volume in Eastern Europe advancing by 3 per cent. In Asia, demand grew by 13 per cent, with the North American market achieving a gain of 6 per cent.

The value of the Jungheinrich Group's incoming orders, encompassing all business fields, amounted to 1,874 million euros in the first nine months of the financial year and was thus 8 per cent higher than the figure recorded a year before (1,743 million euros). In the third quarter of 2014, incoming orders rose by 9 per cent from the figure recorded in the same period last year (574 million euros) to 628 million euros. As of September 30, 2014, orders on hand from new truck business totalled 446 million euros and were thus 80 million euros, or 22 per cent, higher than by the end of 2013. The order reach remained at four months.

Net sales in the third quarter of 2014 amounted to 615 million euros which was 10 per cent higher than the figure achieved in the same period last year (560 million euros). Net sales after the first nine months of 2014 were up 9 per cent to 1,792 million euros (prior year: 1,638 million euros). In Germany, net sales in the same period increased by 9 per cent to 472 million euros (prior year: 434 million euros). Foreign net sales climbed by 10 per cent to 1,320 million euros (prior year: 1,204 million euros). Non-European net sales posted a particularly steep rise, advancing by 18 per cent, buoyed by strong growth in Asia.

The significant increase in consolidated net sales is primarily due to the very disproportionately strong rise in net sales in new truck business. Net sales from short-term hire and used equipment as well as after-sales services also displayed very positive development in the third quarter. In the first nine months of 2014, the Jungheinrich Group increased net sales in new truck business by 14 per cent to 966 million euros (prior year: 846 million euros). October 23, Jungheinrich Landsberg Plant Produces 100,000th Vehicle

Jungheinrich Landsberg Plant Produces 100,000th Vehicle

In mid-October the 100,000th vehicle €“ a type EJE 118 pedestrian-controlled pallet truck €“ rolled off the production line at the Jungheinrich plant in Landsberg, Germany, near the city of Halle. This battery-powered low-platform forklift has made a name for itself as a highly economical tool for loading and unloading as well as for transporting goods over short distances.

Earmarked for delivery to the Jungheinrich branch in Poland, the jubilee truck was the object of a small party organised by plant management. "This is our thank you to all staff members for their professional performance," stated Dr. Marc Ehrmann, head of the Jungheinrich Landsberg plant, adding that he was "proud of our wonderful team!"

The Landsberg plant opened in 2009. Initially only type EJE pedestrian-controlled pallet trucks were produced there, but in the subsequent months Jungheinrich transferred its low-platform truck production entirely to Landsberg. "This plant is a success story and was a smart investment," declared Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, the Jungheinrich Board of Management member in charge of Engineering, at the party.

Currently more than 20,000 trucks are produced annually at the Landsberg plant. As Ehrmann commented, the plant relies on "state-of-the-art, innovative and environmentally friendly production facilities." At Jungheinrich in Landsberg some 150 staff members are employed in the areas of development, purchasing, quality, production and logistics. In addition the team has five trainees, who are receiving their initial career training as industrial mechanics.

Dr. Marc Ehrmann continued that Jungheinrich Landsberg was perceived as €œan attractive employer, adding that the plant would grow even further in the coming years: "To this end we are continually interested in finding highly qualified, highly motivated workers who are interested in contributing to our success story," he concluded.

Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.

August 28, New Facelift for Eco-friendly Jungheinrich Hydrostatic Drive Trucks

New Facelift for Eco-friendly Jungheinrich Hydrostatic Drive Trucks

This summer Jungheinrich is launching the latest edition of its hydrostatically driven 3s, 4s, and 5s series forklift trucks. Thanks to a newly developed control system, these hydrostatic drives feature a higher degree of energy efficiency than before and deliver top throughput performance, coupled with extremely low fuel consumption.

The focus of the new facelift was on the complete reengineering of the VFG 425s-435s series trucks. Originally launched in 2008, this successful range of forklifts is equipped with the latest generation of diesel engines, consisting of common-rail engine technology from Volkswagen. Based on automotive engineering, the drive engine guarantees low fuel consumption and low vibration levels coupled with reduced exhaust and noise emissions. €œThanks to the common rail technology and standard-equipment diesel particle filter, this engine satisfies the stringent directives of the Stage III B European exhaust emission regulations,€œ reports Marek Scheithauer, Head of Product Management IC Engine Powered Forklift Trucks at Jungheinrich.

New Displacement Pump Increases Efficiency By Up to 20 Percent

Among other changes, the new facelift involved replacing the old hydraulic fixed-displacement pumps employed in the 4s series with a new variable displacement pump. €œThis kind of pump delivers exactly the right amount of oil for the operational hydraulics,€œ explains Scheithauer. €œIn practice this means an increase of up to 20 percent in the efficiency of the lift and hydraulic functions.€œ Both the variable displacement pumps and the wheel motors come from Bosch Rexroth. The outstanding throughput rates, coupled with the truck€™s extremely low fuel consumption, go back to the cutting-edge system control, which is based on the latest generation of control hardware and software developed in-house at Jungheinrich.

Economical and Eco-friendly: Jungheinrich IC Engines

€œThe new engine design combined with the standard diesel particulate filter not only meets the stringent requirements of the Stage III B European emission directive, but contributes €“ in conjunction with the other changes €“ to significantly improved energy efficiency. This leads on average to a reduction in fuel consumption of around eight percent over the entire series,€œ adds Scheithauer, €œsaving money, reducing CO2 emissions and protecting the environment.€œ

€œThe characteristics of hydrostatic drives translate into excellent driver comfort and high material handling rates, especially in intensive operations,€œ relates Scheithauer. During lifting operations, the engine speed increases automatically. Thanks to the hydrostatic drive, steering and operational hydraulic operations are direct, precise and effortless. With five pre-set operating programs €“ from reduced performance parameters for optimising energy conservation to working at maximum handling capacity €“ at the press of a button the driver can adjust the operational characteristics immediately to suit the job on hand.€œ

New Compact Mast Improves Visibility By Up to 85 Percent

In addition, with the facelift the Jungheinrich IC-powered 3s and 4s series trucks now feature the all-new compact mast showcased at CeMAT 2014. The driver's field of vision has been significantly expanded as a result of the compact nesting of sections, optimised hose and chain guides as well as two openings in the crossbar. According to Marek Scheithauer, €œWith the new mast layout we have managed to improve driver visibility by up to 85 percent!€œ

The special design of the control panel gives the driver an excellent view of the payload and fork tips. A strut-free, safety glass window in the overhead guard gives the operator an unobstructed upward view when stacking and retrieving pallets. The low upper edge of the counterweight ensures a clear view to the rear.

The operating concept, including the control system, is completely new in all three production series trucks. Technical innovations in the €œdriver-surround cockpit€œ include the new Duo Pilot integrated in the new multi-adjustable arm rest. The new Duo Pilot gives the driver full, accurate and sensitive control of all vehicle functions and, like the advanced Solo Pilots and Multi Pilots, can optionally be freely configured and adapted to suit the driver and operation. In Scheithauer€™s words, €œthe sensitive control of the vehicle moreover adds up to a further increase in handling capacity.€œ

Safety-oriented Design Ensures Low Centre of Gravity, High Stability

Jungheinrich IC engine powered forklifts with hydrostatic drive deliver a high level of safety in daily operations. The trucks boast high stability due to their extremely low centre of gravity. This is largely down to the special counterweight design and the rear axle floating over the wheel suspension. This means the truck does not need an additional electronic stability program. This principle has been successfully applied since 2004 in the in-house developed Jungheinrich IC engine powered forklifts.

In addition to the inherent construction-related safety features, the hydrostatic drive trucks offer various optional driver assistance systems. For example, Access Control is an assistance system which allows the truck to be operated only after a set sequence of control mechanisms has been performed (closed seat switch, safety belt). The Drive Control assistance system is based on the Curve Control system successfully integrated in Jungheinrich electric trucks for more than ten years. Parallel to speed reduction when cornering, drive speed is restricted when the forklift reaches a set lift height. In the Lift Control package for safe load handling, not only is the tilt speed reduced at a set lift height, but if needed an integrated side shifter is put in a pre-set centre position and the mast tilt angle is shown to the driver on a separate display.

Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.

July 16, Jungheinrich Delivers 25,000th Used Forklift Truck

Jungheinrich Delivers 25,000th Used Forklift Truck

The Jungheinrich used equipment centre in Dresden professionally refurbished forklift trucks since 2006. On July 16 it delivered its 25,000th industrial truck. By 2018 plant capacity is scheduled to go from its current level of 4,500 refurbished trucks to 8,000 units per year.

Recently Jungheinrich delivered its 25,000th "JungSTAR", 4-star used forklift truck. The jubilee industrial truck was formally handed over to Paul Davis Freight Services Ltd. on July 16, 2014. Based in Bristol (UK), the client is the leading carrier of consumer goods shipped to Ireland and the British offshore market, including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Isle of Wight

Used trucks from Jungheinrich are an ideal match for our delivery depot requirements," remarks Nigel Dutson, Operations Director of Paul Davis Freight Services Ltd. "They perform beautifully, are highly reliable and €“ particularly important to a company like ours €“ are extremely robust!" The 25,000th truck supplied by the used equipment centre in Dresden consists of a 6-year old EFG 320 electric counterbalanced forklift. A total of three EFG 320 trucks refurbished in Dresden were handed over to the British firm on July 16 and a further three trucks will follow shortly afterwards.

Jungheinrich Used Stackers: JungSTARs in 4-Star Quality

Refurbishment at the Dresden used equipment centre is a premium quality service. The used trucks are industrially refurbished in accordance with Jungheinrich 4-star quality standards. This includes the aspects of safety, engineering, reliability and visual appearance. In the words of Ralf Bangert, Managing Director at the Dresden used equipment centre: "These stackers look like new and are refurbished to conform to the latest safety regulations. They are first-rate in terms of operability and are especially reliable. For this reason we also call our 4-star used stackers the €œJungheinrich JungSTARs€œ!"

Used Jungheinrich industrial trucks are refurbished in a process based on flexible line production, divided into electric and IC engine-powered trucks. The used vehicles go through an intensive incoming examination before being disassembled into individual assemblies, which are then overhauled and the safety-relevant parts replaced. "This means our used trucks are reassembled using new Jungheinrich original spare parts," reports Bangert. Afterwards the trucks are painted in automotive quality. "Even a qualified specialist can barely tell the difference between a new stacker and one of our refurbished ones," he concludes.

Dresden Used Equipment Centre: Expansion While Operating at Full Capacity

The Dresden used equipment centre was taken into operation on June 1, 2006. Since then the plant€™s production capacity has more than €œsextupled€œ, and the available floor area has expanded to 19,000 square meters

As the demand for JungSTARs continues to grow, the new target is to double production capacity to 8,000 industrial trucks by 2018. "The construction project launched in March 2014 was intended to connect the existing halls and optimize material flows in a sustainable manner ," explains Bangert, who added that the actual production surface would increase from the current 8,500 to 13,500 square meters, "putting us in a position to professionally recondition some 8,000 trucks a year," he explains.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world's leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, logistics systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
